Tramane Harris


Theater Director 

Tramane is a theater director interested in the process of new plays and the reinvestigation of the American Canon. He was the Associate Director for the Broadway Production of Pass Over and has directed community-based projects with Rooted Theater Company and Bed Stuy Art House. He is currently with Roundabout Director's Group 5 and some previous productions include Coping Mechanism by Cyrus Aaron (Wild Project) A Story of a Romance by Jennifer Cendana Armas (Harlem Stage) and Blood Wedding by Federico Garcia Lorca(NYU). 

His artistic practice is rooted in seeking the truth through stories and language. He is mostly drawn to the stories of marginalized and working-class people and uses stories to inspire new questions/understanding. Community projects are geared towards meeting folks where they're at and creating new gathering spaces in underserved neighborhoods. Stories have a way of bringing us closer together and giving us a sense of navigation.
